Former UA player Edgerson arrested
Former University of Arizona basketball player Eugene Edgerson was arrested Wednesday night on domestic violence charges. It was his second arrest in two months.
Edgerson, who plays with the Harlem Globetrotters, is suspected of assaulting his wife when she tried to call 911 during an argument, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.
Deputies responded to their home in the 8400 block of West Benidorm Loop, near West Ajo Highway and West Valencia Road, at about 11:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call, Barkman said.
Edgerson's wife told deputies they were arguing inside the house when he assaulted her while she tried to call authorities, Barkman said.
When she reached for the phone, Edgerson grabbed the phone and caused an injury to her hand, Barkman said.

Trespass case vs. poll watcher is tossed
The criminal trespassing case was dismissed Thursday against a man who was kicked out of the ballot-counting center after the primary election in September.
John R. Brakey was arrested Sept. 6 while observing a hand count of the Sept. 2 primary election ballots.
He was concerned about the count when he found seven ballot bags from different precincts had been improperly sealed by poll workers, he said at the time.
Pima County Elections Director Brad Nelson told Brakey not to ask the ballot counters any questions, but to ask Nelson instead. When Brakey refused to ask direct questions to Nelson, Nelson asked him to leave. Nelson called an on-site sheriff's deputy to handcuff Brakey and escort him from the building.
Pima County Justice Court Judge José Luis Castillo Jr. dismissed the case with prejudice Thursday, meaning it cannot be refiled.
