Train strikes, kills woman near downtown
A Tucson woman was struck and killed by a train Sunday in the downtown area, officials said.
Glenda K. Jordon, 51, was hit around 9:30 a.m. near North Main Avenue and West Fifth Street, the Tucson Police Department said. She was pronounced dead at the scene
The train conductor called 911 to report the accident and told officials that it looked as though Jordon was trying to run across the tracks when she was struck, fire officials said.

Long-weekend patrols make 77 DUI arrests
The Southern Arizona DUI Task Force conducted 2,251 traffic stops over Thanksgiving weekend in the Tucson area, officials said.

The task force, made up of officers from 12 law-enforcement agencies, made 77 arrests on charges of driving under the influence while it was deployed on Friday and Saturday nights, a press release said.
Eight of those arrests were for felony extreme DUI, and of the 77 arrested, 16 had prior DUIs, the release said.
Additionally, the task force made 21 underage-drinking arrests and six under-21 DUI arrests.
Nine citations were issued for seat-belt-related violations, and seven citations were issued for child-restraint violations. Also, 530 various other citations were issued.
