A 50-year-old man was killed Thursday on the south side when he was struck by a car while riding his motorcycle, authorities said.
Derek Mosher was southbound on South Palo Verde Road when he tried to make a left turn onto South Broadmont Drive, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a Pima County sheriff's spokeswoman.
Mosher collided with a northbound car when he tried to turn, Barkman said.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, she said.
According to investigators, Mosher failed to yield to the car.
He was not wearing a helmet, Barkman said.

Child-smuggling case indictment names 2
Two Phoenix women were indicted Wednesday on federal child-smuggling charges.
Malissa Marie Gonzales, 22, and Manuela Parra-Herrera, 62, were arrested July 4 as they tried to enter the U.S. at the Douglas Port of Entry, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Tucson.
The two women presented customs officials with birth certificates for a 1-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, but after being interrogated, they admitted the birth certificates did not belong to the children, court records show.
Gonzales told authorities she had recently lost her job and had arranged with Parra-Herrera to go to a hotel in Agua Prieta, Sonora, to pick up the children and bring them into the U.S., according to court records.
The two are to be arraigned on Aug. 13.
