Police fatal shooting 6th of year
● Friday's incident was the sixth officer-involved fatal shooting of the year in the Tucson area. Reviews of the first four concluded the officers' actions were justified. An inquiry into the Nov. 16 incident is pending. Previous shootings were:
● On Nov. 16, Tucson police Officer Stephen Parker shot Nishan Bernard, 22, after Bernard fired at police three times during a chase. Bernard was listed as one of Pima County's "Most Wanted'' fugitives.
● On May 7, Pima County Sheriff's Deputy Derek Tyra and Sgt. John Westmoreland shot 58-year-old Michael Hartigan outside his home in the 4300 block of East Placita Baja.
● On April 4, Tucson police Officers Claude Ralls and Heriberto Orozco shot 42-year-old Philip Camacho six times in the torso and head after he leveled a handgun at them during a confrontation outside his apartment, near West Speedway and North Main Avenue.

● On Feb. 18, Pima County Sheriff's Deputy Ian McCutcheon shot 45-year-old Robin Johnson after she pointed a shotgun at him following a nearly 10-mile pursuit that ended in the 8400 block of West Twin Peaks Road.
● On Feb. 11, Officer Kevin Florey, a Tucson police SWAT team sniper, killed 40-year-old Scott Stumbris, a double-homicide suspect who had barricaded himself inside a motel on North Stone Avenue just north of Speedway. Stumbris had taken a woman hostage inside the hotel and had been smoking crack and drinking.
