Along with hosting fun events such as the play “Jack and the Beanstalk,” Mildred & Dildred toy store is tackling a serious subject.
The store is teaming up with Katie’s Heart and the Rural-Metro Fire District to fill the “Kidulance” with stuffed animals from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Mildred & Dildred, at La Encantada, 2905 E. Skyline Drive.
According to the store’s newsletter, whenever a child has to ride in an ambulance, the paramedics like to give the child a stuffed animal to comfort them.
They run out of stuffed animals, though, so the organizations are holding a donation drive for new stuffed animals.
There will be face painting, treats and arts and crafts. The cost is a new stuffed animal of any size, which doesn’t have to be purchased at Mildred & Dildred (although there will be a 25-percent discount for stuffed animals bought to donate).

It won’t be tough to spot the event: The Kidulance will be parked next to the store.
