Recently students at Sahuarita High School were asked what they thought about Mel Gibson's recent arrest in California for driving while intoxicated and his subsequent anti-Semitic comments.
"I think that it is a little ridiculous that the media has to portray it as such a bad thing. What people don't seem to grasp is that alcohol makes your brain go crazy and it doesn't function properly, so naturally, when people are drunk they won't function. And unfortunately the media assumes that celebrities are perfect, but it's just someone, a human, making a mistake."

"Mel Gibson is an actor, so he knows many people watch him and look up to him. Since he is in the public eye so much, you would think he would be more careful. Many people probably think different of him for making such racist comments."

"I think that Mel Gibson is a really good actor, but he messed up. He has seven kids and a wife and he was out drinking in a bar. People offered to drive him home, but he didn't take the offers. I think this is probably the end of his career. Also, he had to have known what he was saying when he was being anti-Semitic."
