The annual Wings Over the Desert military aircraft fly-in and swap meet at the Tucson Radio Control Club's airfield near South Houghton and East Valencia roads attracted more than 50 people from Tucson and out of state.
"Some are from California, some are from New Mexico," said Tim Toutant, the club's safety officer.
"All planes have to be a military model with military colors," Toutant said of the types of radio-controlled planes allowed to fly during the event, held Saturday and Sunday.
"It's just to come and fly planes, to get together and enjoy our passion," Toutant said. Fliers pay a $20 landing fee and adult spectators pay $2.
More than 30 planes of all shapes and sizes lined the runway and their pilots wowed the audience with their abilities.
"We have a few guys here who can fly in formation together really nicely," Toutant said.
