Classroom projects at 10 TUSD schools will come to fruition thanks to grants from Sonic Drive-In.
The fast-food restaurant is donating about $12,000 to support 17 projects, purchasing math, literature, technology and music supplies.
The donations are part of Sonic’s Limeades for Learning campaign, designed to celebrate hardworking, dedicated teachers.
The recipient schools are Kellond, Carrillo, Warren, Gale, Holladay, Wright and Sewell elementary schools, CE Rose K-8 and Sahuaro High School.
On Tuesday, Sonic surprised a group of teachers at Pueblo Gardens K-8 with oversized checks to support their initiatives.
In addition to the Tucson Unified School District gifts, community members can vote now through Oct. 18 for public school teachers projects they would like to have funded.

Projects with the most votes each week receive funding while the remaining projects get another chance the following week.
Votes can be cast once a day at Limeadesforlearning.com
The public can earn two additional votes by visiting a local Sonic and making a purchase, which will come with a code.
