Age: 16
Parents: Gregory and Nancy Coker
Inside the classroom: Coker is a dedicated student and works hard to maintain her perfect 4.0 grade-point average.
She also is very involved in student affairs, and those who know her say she's a natural leader. She's the Student Council's sophomore class president and aspires to be valedictorian her senior year.
"I like to be able to make things happen instead of watching things happen," she said.
Favorite class: Her honors English class because of the fun projects.
One of the projects Coker recently completed was to film a movie trailer for Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World."

Outside the classroom: Coker is involved with M.O.V.E. (Making Others' Voices Essential), a service club at Empire High. The club raises money for Dollars for Darfur, which is part of the Save Darfur Coalition, and entertains residents at local retirement homes.
Coker also plays the synthesizer for Imperial Percussion, Vail Unified School District's competitive percussion ensemble. The group placed fourth at the Percussion World Championships on April 20 in Dayton, Ohio.
Music is key: Coker has played the piano for six years.
She recalls one visit to a local retirement home where residents thought that someone's grandson was going to play the piano for them.
"They were all so confused when I showed up," she said.
The seniors settled down once Coker began to play and seemed to enjoyed her performance.
College plans: It's too early for her to tell, but Coker is toying with the idea of the University of Texas or maybe the University of Arizona because it would be closer to home.
Career aspirations: Coker wants to go into medicine and become a pediatrician.
Sound bite: Coker's choir teacher, Russel L. Potter, says his student is genuinely concerned about others. Potter said when people are having a bad emotional day, it's apparent in their singing.
"Audrie picks up on it and will make sure that the student is all right," he said. "She's one of the nicest people I've ever met. She's incredibly intelligent and a fantastic singer."
