Pima Community College is closing one of its branch campuses and cutting some services to prepare for a coming state budget cut.
The college will close the Northeast Education Center, 7816 E. Wrightstown Road in the Catalina Village Shopping Center.
Classes taught there will be moved to the PCC East campus, 8181 E. Irvington Road.
College spokeswoman Rachelle Howell said the lease costs $320,000 a year.
The college is facing a $9 million budget cut from the state next year and needs to reduce spending and increase tuition revenue to close the gap.
"What it boils down to is we just can't continue to offer some of the services we've offered in the past," Howell said.
PCC will also close three childcare centers where students could leave their children during class, and it will cut high-school recruiter jobs.

In all, 18 staff positions and some administrative positions will be consolidated. Suzanne Miles, who stepped down from the provost job last month, will return to that position next month.
"We've got 50-plus vacant positions," Howell said, "and our goal is to match those 18 regular employees up with one of the 50 open positions."
