"Enchanté and Howdy," fine-art photography of France and the American West by Le Craven, will be on display Tuesday through May 31 in the gallery of Kirk-Bear Canyon Library, 8959 E. Tanque Verde Road.
You can meet the artist at a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 17.
Craven describes her photography as "romantic realism" exemplified in her signature piece "The Stairwell." The ancient walls and worn stone stairs are a mix of monochromatic silvers and grays and the light from an unseen window floats within the stairway.
In contrast, the realism comes from the simplicity of the shot and the coarse mat at the bottom of the stairs for wiping one's feet.
Craven's Western images often include an ageless view of landscapes and desert scenes - a drought-stressed agave balanced by fleeting fog or snow or a rainbow.
