Would you like to meet a retired canine athlete or show off your 40 mph couch potato?
You can do both from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at La Encantada, 2905 E. Skyline Drive.
Arizona Greyhound Rescue is hosting a Greyhound "flash mob" - or semi-impromptu gathering. The purpose is to raise awareness that April is National Adopt a Greyhound Month.
Thousands of retired racers across the country await permanent homes. Greyhounds are very affectionate, highly intelligent and clean dogs. They make wonderful household pets. Contrary to popular belief, they are not high-energy animals, but rather are affectionately known as 40 mph couch potatoes. They also love being with people.
Arizona Greyhound Rescue is a nonprofit, all-volunteer group that places retired racers in permanent homes, placing about 100 dogs a year. The group relies solely on donations. Since its inception in 1994 AGR has placed nearly 1,200 greyhounds in homes. There are currently 26 dogs available for adoption.
