Amber Lanier and Abigael Aalberg dove into new Sonoran Desert Kids Club nature packs Saturday, in search of magnifying glasses and an insect guide during an outdoor adventure at Agua Caliente Park.
The Sonoran Desert Kids Club has compiled a set of nature backpacks that include magnifying glasses, rulers, compasses, binoculars and a critter guide to identify wildlife in the park.
The backpacks are available for children and their families to use during kids club outings from 9:30 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of every month at the park, 12325 E. Roger Road.
The packs also include an activity guide in which families can complete tasks from various Pima county parks.
When kids club members complete the guide, they can bring it to a future kids club meeting for a certificate and reward.

The backpacks and activities are designed to encourage children and families to explore wildlife and the outdoors together.
The packs include activities such as observing small bugs through magnifying glasses, viewing birds in high trees through binoculars, identifying and drawing ducks and birds, using compasses to find directions through the parks and taking walks around the park using all senses to notice the various wildlife.
The Sonoran Desert Kids Club has a different theme and activity for each monthly meeting.
