St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church, 4625 E. River Road, is a full-time temple currently serving as a part-time theater for Chicken Lipps Productions' "Dead Man's Cell Phone."
Director and co-producer Laura Lippman joined forces with Carrie Hill's Sacred Chicken Productions to form Chicken Lipps to put on "Dead Man." They and their crew change the sanctuary a couple of times a week into a venue for the show.
"The play is about when a woman answers a stranger's cellphone and the adventures it takes her on," said Lippman. "The larger theme is how technology kind of connects but keeps us separate - the more connected we think we are, the more separate we become."
The comedy follows Jean, played by Hill, on a trip through the life not only of a man she never knew, but her own as well. It struck a creative chord with Lippman.

"I loved the humor, a humor that hits you after the fact sometimes," she said. "I really loved the story, I liked the message, that for me is 'Put down your phone and look at each other.' It's a play about relationships, how people connect with one another."
