The Gaslight Theatre embraces its Wild West roots during its latest production, "Gunsmokin' " or "Have Fun, Will Travel."
The comedy opened Jan. 6 and features actor Armen Dirtadian, who reprises the role of Marshal Brett Masters that he played five years ago at the Gaslight.
"This stage is like an old friend to me," said Dirtadian, who has been with the theater for 28 years. "The Gaslight is kind of like a family - we spend more time with each other than we do with our families."
The western spoof is based on the celebrated television series "Gunsmoke," which ran from 1955 to 1975 and told stories of life in Dodge City, Kan.
The Gaslight Theatre puts on five shows a year. "Gunsmokin' " runs through March 26.
"When you come to The Gaslight Theatre you just escape from life for a couple of hours and have fun," said Becky Gilmour, the theater's director of operations. "Every time I watch the show, I think 'My gosh, we get paid to do this!' "
