June 1 marked the first day of Pima Animal Care Center’s three-month competition in the ASPCA $100K Challenge.
It is among 50 shelters nationwide competing to find more homes for pets than ever before. That means finding homes for 5,000 pets by Aug. 31.
The grand prize? A whopping $100,000.
The base adoption fee for June is $30, plus a $15 license cost for dogs. Pets who’ve been at the shelter for more than two weeks have no adoption fee, and all pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated before going home.
The county-run shelter is at 4000 N. Silverbell Road.
