The playgrounds and memorial garden at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, on North Thornydale Road, were the repository for 1,700 colorful plastic eggs Saturday for the church's annual Easter egg hunt.
"The eggs are filled with candies, stickers, tattoos - but no chocolate," said the Rev. Kate Schlechter. "Last year we had over 100 people, and it's open to everybody."
The aim of the community egg hunt is to bring people to the congregation to celebrate the annual religious holiday, Schlechter said. "Today is our outreach to the community."
The egg hunt was open to children from toddlers to elementary-school age and included activities such as decorating baskets, story time about the religious meaning of Easter, arts and crafts and photos with the Easter bunny.
After the hunt, children emptied their eggs so they could be used for next year's hunt.
