About MESA:
Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement - MESA - is a national college-preparation program that tries to increase the number of ethnic minority, low-income, and first-generation college-bound students who are eligible to enter a degree program at a university.
The Southern Arizona MESA region offers tuition waivers for enrollment at the University of Arizona to some eligible students who have been involved in the program at least a year, said Rafael Meza, program coordinator for the Southern Arizona region of MESA.
Between 85 percent and 90 percent of high-school seniors in Arizona who have spent at least a year involved in the program will enroll in a college or university, he said.
The University of Arizona coordinates the southern region, and Arizona State University coordinates the state's central region. For more information visit http://info-center.ccit.arizona.edu
