So, once again we see Trump’s veneration of Orban, as seen by Donald’s invitation for him to visit Mar-a-Lago. Trump views Orban as a template for his future leadership. But what kind of leadership is that? Orban is hostile to immigration, even though Hungary has not had a problem with that issue. He believes in the “replacement theory”. He has cracked down on their free press by having his cronies control it. The elections in his country are now a sham. Religious institutions are now subject to his control, with some clergy being placed on his enemies list. Orban rules by cruelty and fear. He has stifled dissent in his nation. He has changed the courts to favor his positions by replacing judges. He has pressured businesses to align themselves with his political philosophy. If this sounds like fascism, you would be correct. Trump’s obsession with this sick man shows a similar sickness in Trump. Trump prefers fascism because it feeds his grandiose self-image.
