VOA was created at the beginning of WWII. Today, it is the largest international broadcaster providing information to roughly 350 million people worldwide and spoken in over 50 languages. VOA is a US government radio network that began in 1942 to counter Nazi propaganda. Its mission was to spread accurate and informative news. In 2022, VOA celebrated its 80th year of broadcasting.
Past VOC directors have been Amanda Bennett (author; Pulitzer Prize Awardee). John Chancellor (NBC Nightly News). Dr Mary Bitterman (served during the American-Iran hostage takeover; served during Liberia’s bloody Coup d’etat).
VOA’s mission has been to provide truthful, objective, and accountable news with cultural programming. It continues this arduous mission to this day.
2025 will be looking at Kari Lake as its next possible director. Ms. Lake would be responsible for truthful, objective and accountable news and programming. Really?
