According to the Star's reporting, supporters of Project Blue cite the "creation of 150" jobs as partial justification for approving the project, yet later the reporting mentions that the developer doesn't want its name getting out because some current employees might worry they will be transferred (to Tucson). In other words, those well-paid jobs will not necessarily (or even likely?) go to current Tucson residents. The transferred employees and their families will add to our overpopulation, increase pressure on housing costs and infrastructure. The high demand for water and electricity of these data centers will exacerbate our water shortage and probably increase residential and business electricity rates. Sounds too much like a bad deal, but given the secrecy surrounding this entire process, one does wonder who will rake in the cash.
