Thanks to Barbara Liguori for her excellent op-ed. New data centers in Tucson and Marana can be powered by solar farms and battery energy storage systems. Beale Infrastructure must build solar farms backed up batteries so that they generate their own electricity.
Solar farms are quiet; gas-powered plants create massive noise.
Solar farms require almost no water. Gas powered plants require millions of gallons of water.
We have abundant sunshine. We don't have abundant water.
Our local government must make demands of Beale and of TEP.
