DULUTH, Ga. - Arizona senior Katie Matusik finished second on beam in Friday's qualifying, earning her a spot in Sunday's individual competition at the NCAA women's gymnastics championship.
Matusik, who had a score of 9.90, was named a first-team All-American by virtue of making the final. Arizona's other individual competitor, junior Aubree Cristello, finished 10th in all-around Friday.
Her performance was part of a big day for the Pac-12, as UCLA. Utah and Stanford all qualified for today's team finals. Joining them will be the Southeast Conference trio of Alabama, Florida and Arkansas.
Track and field
Moline gives UA 2nd Mt. SAC win
Junior Georganne Moline gave the Arizona Wildcats their second individual title at the Mount SAC Relays, winning the women's 400 meters at the three-day track-and-field carnival in Walnut, Calif.

Moline's winning time was 52.92 seconds.
Other top finishers for the Wildcats included junior Tyler Johnson, fourth in the hammer throw, and junior James Eichelberger, who was fourth in the 800 meters.
Arizona sophomore Lawi Lalang, the NCAA men's indoor champion at both 3,000 and 5,000 meters, ran in the 5,000 invitational late Friday. His finish was not available at press time.
• In Johannesburg, former world champion Caster Semenya qualified for the 800 meters at the London Olympics. The South African ran 1 minute, 59.58 seconds in a provincial meet on her home track at the University of Pretoria on Friday.

Vikings stadium subsidy revived
ST. PAUL, Minn. - A Minnesota Senate committee approved a bill Friday for a public subsidy to help the Vikings build a new stadium in downtown Minneapolis.
The Local Government and Elections Committee passed the stadium bill on a vote of 8-6 Friday. The vote revives the struggling stadium bill just a few days after a House committee rejected a version of it.
The Senate committee's vote came just hours after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell visited the Minnesota Capitol in St. Paul to urge state lawmakers to resolve the stadium issue for the sake of ensuring the Vikings' future in Minnesota.
The Vikings have sought a replacement for the Metrodome for more than a decade. Though the will play next season in the Dome, their lease has expired.
• Former safety Ray Easterling, a key part of the Atlanta Falcons "Gritz Blitz" defense in the 1970s, died Thursday. He was 62.

Women's coach Kelly quits NAU
FLAGSTAFF - Northern Arizona University women's basketball coach Laurie Kelly, the longest tenured and winningest coach in program history, has resigned to take the head coaching position at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota.
Her teams won 117 games and the 2006 Big Sky Championship, which led to the NAU women's first and only NCAA tournament appearance.
• St. John's head coach Kim Barnes Arico, whose team ended Connecticut's 99-game home winning streak last season, has been hired to coach the Michigan women's basketball team.

Grieving Djokovic reaches semis
MONACO - Novak Djokovic, playing a day after his grandfather's death, dropped serve four times before beating Robin Haase 6-4, 6-2 to reach the Monte Carlo Masters semifinals on Friday.
Joining Djokovic in the semifinals are seven-time defending champion Rafael Nadal, ninth-seeded Gilles Simon and sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych.
