Joe Guzman, an Eloy-born boxing trainer working at the U.S. Olympic team's camp this week, was told Friday he is traveling to London for the Games.
Guzman, 32, was emotional about the news, thanking his wife, Andrea, and the boxing team's coaching for helping to realize his dream to participate in what he called "the highest level of amateur boxing."
Guzman will train the fighters for another week before leaving for Europe with the rest of the staff. Until this week, Guzman was doubtful he would be invited.
"It was a weight off my shoulders," he said. "I had been anticipating. Am I going? Am I not going?
"It's just awesome."
