After disposing of Italy on Friday, coach Sean Miller and his unbeaten USA basketball team are one win from reaching the title game of the U19 World Championships.
But first they must beat host Greece, which is also 5-0, in a tough semifinal at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The U.S. hopes to have Arizona freshman Allonzo Trier back after he sat out the 86-65 quarterfinal victory over Italy as a precaution following an ankle sprain Wednesday against Argentina.
With Trier, the U.S. rallied to beat Greece 90-82 in a June 23 exhibition.
“I believe we’re better now than we were then, but I believe they are as well,” UA’s Miller said. “We’re going to have to play in front of a packed house and ... through some adversity. It’s going to be a great challenge.”
Greece beat Spain 70-53 Friday. The U.S.-Greece winner will face Croatia or Turkey in Sunday’s title game at 10:30 a.m.
