More than 50 MountainView Lady Putters, dressed in Hawaiian and Flamingo print dresses, leis, crazy hats and polo shirts to gather to play a goofy round of putting on the morning of Monday, August 12. Numerous pink flamingos and palm trees were scattered about the green. Festively adorned tee markers and unexpected putting methods were used on each hole.
Committee members, Mary Himpler, Jan Laufmann, Barbara Bloch, Christine Schmitz, Lorie Bolme, Marilee Jones and advisors, Kim Halper and Roberta Wisniewski, set up an amazing green with some of the following challenges: BOOK A HOLE IN ONE – Putt thru the Book; READY FOR A LEI? – Putt through a runway of plastic leis with battery operated lights strung into the leis; DON’T TAKE TOO LONG TO PUTT — Dinosaurs; DON’T SLICE THE BALL — Pizza Slices; OPPOSITES ATTRACT — Putt with non-dominant hand; TRY FOR A BIRDIE – Flock of Flamingos; HIT A BIRDIE – Putt with a badminton racket; TUNNEL VISION – Putt up the ramp, through container; TAKE A SPIN – Use the Hula Hoop, then putt. NO WAFFLING HERE – Putt with the wiffle ball; and PUT SOME FOLGERS IN YOUR CUP – Putt thru Folgers container with hole, just to name a few. The prize winner for the “highest score” was a three-way draw between Gloria Olsen, Loretta Edgerton and winner, Christine Schmitz; the “lowest score” went to Kay Caukins and “most holes in one” winners were Gay Uhl and Barbara Bloch.
