GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — Stockton University will join other state colleges such as Rowan University in postponing its traditional graduation ceremonies in May due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rowan University seniors will have a virtual graduation this May until a new date for the college’s in-person ceremony is scheduled.
Stockton President Harvey Kesselman sent a message to students, faculty and staff Tuesday outlining plans for the rest of the spring semester.
“I sincerely regret that we cannot welcome you and your classmates back to the campus for the remainder of the spring semester,” Kesselman said. “However, our faculty and staff have been working diligently to minimize disruption to your education so that you are able to complete the semester successfully.”
Stockton will plan a two-phase graduation celebration for the Class of 2020. The first component will be a virtual event May 15. This will be followed in the fall by an in-person ceremony. More details are forthcoming.

Ocean County College has canceled its ceremony. Atlantic Cape Community College and Rowan College of South Jersey have not made decisions on commencement.
