Long-time Tucson home furnishing retailer Table Talk has closed its Broadway Village location, but owner Robert Mayerfield said plans are in the works to reopen the store at a new site.
Table Talk had been in the red-brick Spanish Colonial Revival-style center, at Broadway and Country Club Road, for 32 years.
Mayerfield said the store's lease expired Saturday and because of a decline in retail sales along that Midtown section of Broadway, particularly at El Con Mall, it was time to look for a new home.
"The furniture business is holding up," he said. "It's been realy good in spite of all that's going on."
Mayerfield declined to say where Table Talk is considering re-opening the store. Table Talk has three other locations in Tucson at 6842 E. Tanque Verde Road, 7876 N. Oracle Road and 7707 E. Broadway.
