Hancock Fabrics plans to close its east-side Tucson location as part of the company’s Chapter 11 reorganization filed this week.
The shop at 6325 E. 22nd St. is one of about 70 stores nationwide that have been submitted to the court for closure, documents filed with U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware show.
A second Tucson-area location at 3741 W. Ina Road will remain open.
“We believe the restructuring is a positive step for the future of the company and we are committed to providing our customers quality fabrics and crafting essentials, both online and in stores,” Steve Morgan, president and CEO, said in a written statement.
Hancock was founded in 1957 and has more than 250 shops in 37 states.
The company has set up a dedicated toll-free number for customers, employees or vendors who have questions, 1-866-967-0494.
