Ralph Stanley returns to Tucson for unique screening and concert combo
• When: 6 p.m. screening, 9 p.m. concert April 26.
• Where: The Loft Cinema,
3233 E. Speedway (screening) and Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St. (concert).
• Tickets: $8 film; $27 film and concert ticket; $25-$31 concert tickets. Buy concert tickets at the Rialto, and tickets for the film only at the Loft.
• The Gist: The 85-year-old legend will introduce the Coen Brothers' "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" at a screening before he performs at the Rialto Theatre. Stanley will talk about working on the soundtrack, which earned him a Grammy Award for best male country vocal performance for his rendition of "O Death," which is featured in the film. This will be Stanley's first Tucson show since he played the Rialto in 2007 within days of his 80th birthday. He comes here with his longtime Clinch Mountain Boys, which includes son Ralph Stanley II on guitar and grandson Nathan Stanley on mandolin.
