In addition to awarding a $500 gift card to the winning band, The Chicago Music Store is giving a $100 certificate to the bands that finish second and third.
The longtime battle sponsor also is providing the drum set and amps for Friday's concert.
Chicago Store owner Bill Sutton, whose great-grandmother opened the store downtown in 1919, said he sees such events as investments in the community.
