Nothing brings music home like seeing an artist in an informal, intimate setting, chatting about his or her craft in between songs.
That's what makes The Boondocks Lounge's "Every 5th Sunday" singer-songwriter showcase such a gift.
The club brings in local musicians who invite their fans into their heads and hearts for an evening that sheds new light on them as people and artists.
On Sunday, brother-sister Nancy and Neil McCallion will headline.
Nancy has made a big name for herself with her twin bands The Mollys and The Last Call Girls.
Neil is the songwriter-guitarist for the blistering blues-honky-tonk band The Mighty Maxwells.
The pair will be joined by their nephew Kevin Sorenson, an emerging singer-songwriter who often shares the stage with the McCallions. Sorenson is the son of former Star reporter Dan Sorenson, who also played bass with The Mollys.
