Elaine and Zac Seasly are going to compete in the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo mountain bike race as a duo — but they’ll hardly see each other.
The married Raytheon engineers will take turns circling the race’s 17-mile course. While one is on a bike, the other will be downing water and PowerBars at a site race organizers have dubbed “24-Hour Town.”
“We’ll see each other at the transition points, and I think that will be about it,” says Elaine.
The Seaslys are one of several couples who will spend Valentine’s Day (and night) competing in the 10-year-old event.
The race will begin at noon Saturday and end 24 hours later. The team that completes the most laps wins.
Zac thinks racing with his wife is a good bonding opportunity.
