Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela have canceled their Saturday night performance at the Rialto Theatre.
Rialto Theatre general manager Curtis McCrary said the the duo, consisting of Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero, had cited "exhaustion" on the part of Quintero as the reason for the cancellation.
A post on the band's MySpace.com page confirms the circumstances of the Tucson cancellation, as well as the axing of other shows in California and Texas. A statement credited to Quintero on the band's MySpace says, "I am gutted that I have to take a break from touring. I was really looking forward to these dates but if it means we can do what we've got planned for the rest of the year then I need to take the time off. I want to apologize to our fans, and I hope that everyone understands. We will be back on the road next month."
Ticket sales for the Rialto show were strong, according to McCrary, and now refunds are available at point-of-purchase.
