Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from a private prison in Florence this morning.
Christopher Breiland, 36, escaped from the Florence West facility sometime before 8 a.m., when prison staff noticed prison-issued orange pants and blood on the perimeter fence.
The facility was locked down and an emergency count was taken, which confirmed that someone escaped.
Search teams and tracking dogs have been deployed, and Arizona Department of Corrections investigators are at the Florence facility.
Breiland was sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison in 1997 after a conviction on three felony counts: theft, weapons misconduct and forgery. He was due to be released December 30.
He is a white man, 5’ 9” tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair. He also has a cross tattooed on his left shoulder.
