A crash on Interstate 10 on Monday morning killed an employee of an armored truck company.
The westbound freeway lanes near the Speedway exit were closed after a vehicle struck a Garda armored truck just before 8 a.m.
The armored truck hit the concrete barrier wall as a result of the collision. The back door of the truck opened and one of the guards was ejected, officials said.
The guard was pronounced dead at the scene, said Tim Case, spokesman for the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The name of the guard had not been released at press time on Monday.
The collision appears to have been accidental and without criminal intent, Case said. No arrests have been made and no other injuries were reported.
