1899: The University of Arizona football team plays its first intercollegiate game against Tempe Normal School — now known as Arizona State University — on Thanksgiving Day. UA's Varsity, as the team was then called, lost, 2-11. (from "The book of Tucson firsts" by Larry Cox)
1919: Swede Myerhofer pilots the first plane to land at Tucson's Municipal Airport, which was located on Old Nogales Highway where the rodeo grounds are today.
