The Tucson Jewish Community Center is combining some of summer's most fun activities — swimming, watching movies and dining al fresco — during the new Dive and Dine event, which was held Saturday and will be held once in July and again in August.
On the menu were hot dogs, slushy drinks and the movie "Free Willy," appropriate for an evening that included swimming and playing in the JCC splash park.
In addition, people participated in a Havdallah, a small ceremony marking the separation between the Sabbath, which ends Saturday night, and the rest of the week.
Around 75 people showed up, organizers said, emphasizing that Dive and Dine is open to anyone.
"It doesn't matter if you're Jewish or not. It's all backgrounds," said Scott Zorn, director of Children, Youth and Camping Services. "Summertime, family — it's just a great time to enjoy yourself."
