Two brothers, seven and nine years old, were killed in a crash early Tuesday in Sierra Vista that also left their mom critically injured, police say.
The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Arizona 90 and Coronado Drive.
In it, a white sedan carrying the boys and their mom ran a red light on northbound Coronado and collided with an eastbound pickup truck that was pulling a trailer, the release said. The impact swung the sedan and pickup truck into a third vehicle, a gold sedan waiting to turn left onto Coronado.
The pickup truck rolled onto its side and caught fire. Its driver was taken to the hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening, the release said.
The boys died later at the hospital. Their mother was critically injured and was flown by helicopter to Tucson.

Police said the initial investigation indicates the mother might have "experienced a medial episode" just before the crash.
