A 36-year-old man was fatally struck Tuesday afternoon while crossing the street on Tucson's southeast side, police said.
Joe Frank Trujillo was struck about 3 p.m. while jaywalking across South Alvernon Way near East 29th Street, Tucson police said in a news release.
Trujillo tied to cross the southbound lanes of Alvernon just north of 29th Street when he was struck by a southbound Dodge Grand Caravan. Trujillo crossed about 90 feet from a marked crosswalk, the release said.
He died later at the hospital.
The driver was not injured.
There were no citation and the investigation continues.
