Tucson Electric Powers says 25,000 midtown and north side customers lost power this morning because an animal broke into a substation and messed with a transformer.
The outage occurred at 1:58 a.m., said TEP spokesman Joseph Barrios, who added that an additional 3,000 customers might have lost power for 10 second or less. TEP restored service by 3:50 a.m.
“We don’t like it when outages occur, but the time was fortunate, truth be told, because many people were sleeping,” Barrios said.
