Will Rogers Jr. planned to spend a lot of time on the road in 1979. It was the 100th anniversary of his father's birth, and there would be lots of Will Rogers celebrations to attend. Relaxing at his Tubac home on Feb. 7, 1979, Rogers told a reporter that it was actually his brother, Jim, who inherited their father's storytelling skill. When he wasn't on the banquet circuit talking about his dad, Rogers, then 68, enjoyed spending time in Tubac visiting with the tourists and signing autographs.
