Sierra Vista residents will get a last-minute chance to weigh in on a new fighter jet that could come to Tucson.
The Air Force will hold an open house there on March 30 to get feedback on its proposal to base the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter at an Air National Guard unit at Tucson International Airport.
The meeting runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Buena High School, 5225 E. Buena School Rd.
Five similar meetings were held last week around Southern Arizona, but Sierra Vista wasn't included among the meeting sites.
U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords asked the Air Force to add the city, noting that if the F-35 comes to Tucson, some training flights could take place at the Army's Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista.
TIA is one of five training sites being considered for the new fighter, which has been controversial because its has a higher noise level than the F-16 jets it is due to replace.
