A Marana police officer helped his wife deliver their baby when they couldn't get to a birth center in time.
Vince Jenkins' wife Renae began having contractions on April 29 so they contacted their midwife.
They were told that based on the time between contractions, there was no reason to rush.
But Jenkins says Renae's contractions began to increase significantly during the drive and her water broke.
They were still several miles from the birth center when Jenkins pulled into a parking lot.
He utilized his first responder training from the police academy and he assisted his wife in giving birth to their daughter, now named Elena Lynn Jenkins.
Tucson Fire Department personnel arrived minutes later. They say Renae Jenkins and the baby girl both are doing fine.
