Bo Diddley put on quite a show at Voila on April 12, 1984. According to the review, whether it was his own "hambone" beat, grindy R&B or contemporary rock, "Diddley established a rhythm and pushed it, usually into a sweat." At least part of the evening's success was due to the local Statesboro Blues Band, which, without benefit of a rehearsal, joined Diddley for the concert. Statesboro drummer George Howard "emphatically" provided the rhythm for Diddley. The group's guitarist, Pat McAndrews, supplied "great complementary guitar lines."
