A fugitive captured Friday in Mexico was deported to Tucson and booked into the Pima County jail on Saturday to face Pima County charges, including escape, domestic violence, aggravated assault and kidnapping, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
Oscar Noe Alday, 46, was found and detained in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, on Friday by Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana, Secretaría de Marina and Fiscalía General de la República, the Marshals Service said.
“This successful investigation reflects the strength of our partnerships with local, county, state, federal and international law enforcement,” said Van Bayless, United States Marshal for the District of Arizona, said in a news release Saturday. “The coordinated efforts of U.S. and Mexican authorities ensured that a violent fugitive was located, apprehended, and returned to Arizona to answer for his crimes.”

Alday escaped from Pima County Sheriff’s Department custody on Oct. 20, 2022, one day after being booked into the Pima County jail on charges of domestic violence, aggravated assault and kidnapping. After his escape, Pima County Superior Court issued an additional warrant for his arrest on an escape charge, and the Sheriff’s Department requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.
Early in the investigation, authorities determined that Alday had fled to Mexico. Law enforcement officials devoted hundreds of hours to locating him, during which multiple additional warrants were issued, including for probation violation, unlawful imprisonment, unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, failure to appear, aggravated assault, kidnapping and obstruction of a criminal investigation, the news release said.
Investigators also identified several people accused of assisting Alday in evading capture. Alday’s mother, Dolores Guadalupe Alday, was arrested last Sept. 15 by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Arizona Department of Public Safety on suspicion of charges relating to hindering prosecution.
Authorities say she provided financial support to Alday while he was a fugitive. She was booked into the Pima County jail and later released on her own recognizance.
Four additional associates were charged with hindering prosecution. One remains in Arizona Department of Corrections custody, the news release said.
