Three Safford residents died Sunday morning, when a sedan ran a red light and crashed into an oncoming van, a Department of Public Safety press release said.
The incident happened when a 2005 Chevrolet sedan, traveling east on West Discovery Park Boulevard, ran the light at the intersection of Arizona 191 near Safford, around 4:50 a.m., the release said.
The car crashed into a 1993 Chevrolet van traveling north on the 191.
The sedan went "airborne" and crashed into an abandoned trailer home. Its driver, Vincent Hernandez, 20, died at the scene, the press release said.
The van spun and came to a halt on the road, the release said. Its driver, Patricia Anne Cunningham, 43, also died at the scene. A passenger, Mark Bradley Phelps, 41, was flown to University Medical Center where he died around noon.

The other passenger, Amora Caprice Mueller, 33, also was flown to University Medical Center. Her condition was not available.
