"Knees to Last a Lifetime" is the topic of an illustrated lecture at Academy Village on Monday by Randy Raugh, a well-known Tucson physical therapist and exercise specialist.
Open to the public and free of charge, the presentation begins at 2:30 p.m. in the great room of the Arizona Senior Academy Building, 13715 E. Langtry Lane.
The lecture is part of a monthly series on health and wellness presentations sponsored by the Arizona Senior Academy and Academy Village Wellness Center.
Raugh will discuss osteoarthritis, the basic anatomy of the human knee and recent findings in biomechanics that have resulted in surprisingly simple strategies to maintain knee function and comfort.
A graduate of the University of Arizona, Raugh received a master's degree in physical therapy from Northern Arizona University and is nearing completion of a clinical doctoral degree in physical therapy at Washington University in St. Louis.

His areas of particular interest include lower-extremity, spine and shoulder pain and pathology.
Raugh is a physical therapist in the Carondelet St. Joseph's Hospital Outpatient Orthopedic Clinic and Emergency Department.
Author of the book "Prime for Life: Functional Fitness for Ageless Living," Raugh has been featured in publications including Arthritis Today, U.S. News and World Report and GQ magazine. He has appeared on ESPN, the Discovery Channel, Tucson news programs and national radio stations.
