Male bonding can come at unexpected times and in unexpected ways.
Saturday I was at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort at the "Celebrating Women's Health" event. Suddenly, and with a great sigh of relief, I saw Ken Blanchard of Edward Jones and Chris Griffin of Robeks Juice looking at me as longingly (wishing for a sports venue) as I was looking at them.
Male bonding in a woman's world comes in different forms these days.
The best quote of the event came from keynote speaker Lisa Smartt about how we can assist each other in healthier lifestyles and stress management rather than pointing out other's weaknesses.
"You'll get more from people with the inside of your arm (in a side hug) than you will with the end of your finger (pointing)," she said.

I've been a bit cranky and distant recently, probably because I haven't eaten a decent meal in weeks. My wife and I are constantly at the YMCA lifting weights.
Why? you may ask. Is it the fact that we are entering swimsuit season? Does it have to do with being a good role model for the "Healthiest Town in America initiative?"
Heck, no. "Reunion fear" is in full bloom.
We are going back for our 30th dental school reunion at the University of Pennsylvania, and there has been abject fear in our home for the last couple of months.
All Debbie wanted to do was be able to get back into her size 8 jeans. Me, all I wanted was not to be overweight and, more importantly, not be bald!
Going back to reunions sure can be a great motivator! Now we get to find out the answer to the biggest question of the reunion: "Who's still married?"
Enjoy the journey,
Bob
