Two Westside High School students, ages 14 and 15, are facing criminal charges in connection with a rape alleged to have occurred at the school last week.
According to court documents, a 14-year-old boy initially charged as a juvenile with first-degree sexual assault will now face the same charge in adult court. His friend, a 15-year-old boy, is currently charged in Juvenile Court with being an accessory to first-degree sexual assault.
Court documents say that the 15-year-old “acted as a lookout while his friend committed a forcible rape” and the boy “admitted to checking the door to see if anyone was coming to make sure they didn’t get into trouble.” The 14-year-old accused of committing the rape allegedly admitted to law enforcement that the victim repeatedly told him to stop, according to court documents.
Both boys are being detained at the Douglas County Youth Center, according to court records. Adult charges have not been filed against the 14-year-old boy, but prosecutors on Wednesday filed a motion to dismiss the Juvenile Court case in anticipation of the boy being recharged as an adult.
